Mrs. Way is in her second year as school counselor at Red Lion Area Junior High School. She will serve students on teams 7C and 8L this 2017- 2018 school year. Mrs. Way will be coordinating Johns Hopkins, Diversity Week, National Mix-It-Up Day, Academic Breakfast, and Transition Day this school year. Mrs. Way will also be heading an Ala-teen group and Dream to Do it
manufacturing video contest. Junior High is such an awesome and challenging time for many students and parents. Mrs. Way looks forward to helping students navigate adolescence, working towards becoming successful and contributing members within school and community.
Mrs. Way began her career in mental health/substance abuse counseling. She was a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and worked in various outpatient and inpatient settings with children and adolescents. More recently, Mrs. Way was employed the past 5 years in Learning Support at area middle and elementary schools. Mrs. Way received her Bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and more recently, her Master's of Art in School Counseling from Messiah College. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and is currently working towards her Licenced Professional Counselor (LPC) certification.
On a personal note, Mrs. Way lives with her husband of 18 years and three children (14,13, and 11) on a farm in York County. There she farms 27-acres with her family, complete with cattle, horses, chickens, and a dog named Hazel. Mrs. Way also enjoys competing in triathlons and open water swims. She is actively involved with York County 4-H, swimming, missions work (traveling overseas), and countless other activities her children are involved with.
