Welcome! Mr. Werner is a product of Lebanon County and a graduate of Cedar Crest High School. He is a graduate of Penn State University where he received his bachelor of arts in International Relations with a minor in English. In 2011, he moved to Atlanta to teach at an inner city school as part of the Teach For America program. After returning home to Pennsylvania, he worked in alternative education in the city of Lancaster. This is his second year at Red Lion. While in Atlanta he began working toward his master's degree in Learning Design & Technology at Georgia State University. If Mr. Werner had to choose 3 words to describe himself, he would choose: positive, passionate, and charismatic. He loves his job and enjoys working to get the best out of his students. His goal for every school year is that his students not only grow as English learners, but as citizens of the world.
In the classroom, Mr. Werner believes that creativity and engagement are the keys to a positive and successful learning environment. He is always looking for a creative or engaging way to connect with the students. His classroom is a positive and friendly environment on a daily basis. Mr. Werner is not afraid to think outside the box, embarrass himself, or go above and beyond for his students. As one student once said of Mr. Werner's class; "You never knew what to expect from Mr. Werner's class on a daily basis...and I loved it."
Outside of school, Mr. Werner enjoys staying active and being outdoors. Running has been a part of his life since his middle school days. He started running in 7th grade and continued to run as a member of the cross country team into his Penn State years. His passion for running has led him to coach both cross country and track at every school he has worked at, including Red Lion. Mr. Werner also enjoys hiking, fishing, painting, watching sports, and grilling.
