Dr. Stauffer is currently the counselor for students with the last names that begin with Q-Z. She also coordinates the Red Lion Area Junior High's Career Day. This year she will be coordinating the Transition programs for the incoming sixth grade students and the eighth grade students moving to ninth grade. Dr. Stauffer currently is a member of the Safe and Supportive Schools Committee, PRIDE, and the School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Program. This is her ninth year at Red Lion Area Junior High School. Dr. Stauffer is also serving as the Department Lead of the Counseling Department.
She has two children, her son is entering his sophomore year in high school and her daughter is entering her freshman year in high school. She enjoys Do-It-Yourself projects and attending events with her children. Her son is active in orchestra, band, jazz band, marching band, his garage band, and karate. He plays the double bass and the electric bass. Her daughter is active in a competitive dance team, marching band, and plays the oboe.
Dr. Stauffer earned my B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Millersville University. She returned to Millersville to complete her M.Ed. and Certification in School Counseling. She completed her Education Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Education and Supervision from Argosy University in Washington, DC in July 2014. Dr. Stauffer worked in the human services field for 14 years in various roles.
Junior high is a very important time in a student's life and many of the lessons they learn here, they will take with them when they leave. Dr. Stauffer enjoys being able to support students to be successful in their endeavors here at the junior high and in the future.
Mrs. Way is the newly appointed school counselor at Red Lion Area Junior High School. Here she will serve students with last names A-G. Mrs. Way will be coordinating Johns Hopkins, Diversity Week, National Mix-It-Up Day, and the Academic Breakfast this school year. She looks forward to working with the students of RLAJHS and settling into her new role within the Red Lion Area School District. Junior High is such an awesome and challenging time for many students and parents. Mrs. Way looks forward to helping students navigate adolescence, working towards becoming successful and contributing members within school and community.
Mrs. Way began her career in mental health/substance abuse counseling. She was a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and worked in various outpatient and inpatient settings with children and adolescents. More recently, Mrs. Way was employed the past 5 years in Learning Support in area middle and elementary schools. Mrs. Way received her Bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and more recently, her Master's of Art in School Counseling from Messiah College. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and is currently working towards her Licenced Professional Counselor (LPC) certification.
